What's Going on in Japan's Laboratories?

* The sale of captured monkeys - Between 50,000 and 100,000 Japanese monkeys (Macaca fuscata) now live in the mountains of this country, but with the logging of forests throughout the land, the monkeys come down to human habitations where they are captured. During only the past few years 10,000 monkeys have been either shot or captured, and most of them are sold cheaply for laboratory experiments. Should this "extermination" of the monkeys continue unabated, the Japanese monkey will be extinct within ten years.

* Mass consumption of animals - Countless animals suffer and die every day in order to investigate the toxicity of new chemical substances, which are developed in rapid succession. The hundreds of thousands of chemicals that have been "approved" on the basis of laboratory animal corpses destroy the environment, damage all life, and ruin our health. It is surely our modern society, dependent as it is upon chemicals, that is destroying the environment and all life, including human being. It will not be long before our own corpses are piled high on top of the laboratory animals' corpses.
