Regulate Animal Experiments
There is a need for supervision and for
publicizing information about animal experiments.
Reduce Animal Experimentation in Japan
Animals can feel pain and suffering just like people can. But some
researchers make bad use of this sensitivity for experiments.
Many people still believe that “animal experiments are necessary.”
However the truth about animal experiments is hidden from the public
eye and nobody knows for sure what is really going on in the covert
laboratories. In Japan, there are no laws that regulate or provide
oversight on animal experiments. ALIVE believes that there is a
need to establish a registration or application system for researchers
and facilities engaging in animal experimentation and we also believe
that third-party organizations that can thoroughly supervise animal
experiments should be set up and that detailed information on the
experiments that are carried out at the facilities should be publicized.
Immediate changes must to be made and regulations must be implemented
in order to reduce the number of meaningless and cruel animal experiments.
What is Going On in Laboratories in Japan?
In the name of “education” or “research”, anybody can perform
an animal experiment anywhere, at any time.
Animal vivisection has been continuously carried out at elementary
schools and junior high schools.
Although medical universities perform animal experiments, animal
welfare education is not included in the curriculum.
There is no system or way to review and access the data. The results
of unsuccessful animal experiments are destroyed.
Similar animal experiments are repeatedly conducted. This is because
corporations and research centers are in continuous competition.
There are no checking functions by third parties. There is no
system for on-site inspections.
There are no systems for imposing penalties or inspecting what
is going on in the covert laboratories. There are no systems for
establishing the truth or estimating the animal cruelty produced
by experiments.
Animal Experiment Regulations Around the World. No Regulations
Exist in Japan.

What Can We Do?
Hand out flyers and information to let your friends and family
know about animal experiments.
Contact makers of cosmetics and daily-use products and ask them
if they use animal experiments in testing their products. Choose
products that were made without animal testing.
Send letters and email messages to the media.
Collect petitions to build pressure the implementation of regulations
for animal experiments.
We are an NPO (Non-Profit Organization) that works towards the
abolition of vivisection by disseminating information and by pinpointing
errors made and propagated by theoretical and scientific foundations.
Contact address if you require reading materials/flyers on animal
experimentation/vivisection.
